The Office of Transportation Policy is the office responsible for recommending overall surface transportation policy initiatives to the Secretary. The office coordinates multi-modal initiatives and processes, such as the development of DOT's proposed reauthorization language, and the coordination of the President's Executive Order on expediting environmental reviews and approvals of transportation infrastructure. The Office also reviews all proposed DOT rulemakings, legislation, testimony and reports to Congress and is responsible for reviewing economic analyses of air safety regulations, reviewing airport infrastructure programs, and planning air freight policies.

International Transportation and Trade Policy
The Build America Bureau (Bureau), advances investment in America’s transportation infrastructure by lending federal funds to qualified borrowers; clearing roadblocks for creditworthy projects; encouraging best practices in project planning, financing, and delivery; and fully using available lending capacity while protecting taxpayer resources.
Administers the programs of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology (OST-R) and advises and assists the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and the Under Secretary for Policy in matters pertinent to OST-R and its functions.
