Previous Activity of the Aviation Consumer Protection Advisory Committee
Overview
In 2012, the Department established the Advisory Committee for Aviation Consumer Protection (ACACP) in accordance with the FAA Modernization and Improvement Act of 2012. Its purpose was to advise the Secretary of Transportation in carrying out activities relating to airline customer service improvements. This includes evaluating existing aviation consumer protection programs and providing recommendations to the Secretary for the improvement of such programs, if needed, and providing recommendations to the Secretary for establishing additional aviation consumer protection programs, if needed.
The FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 extended the authorization for the Committee from September 30, 2018 to September 30, 2023. In September 2018, the name of the Committee was changed to Aviation Consumer Protection Advisory Committee (ACPAC).
Committee Charter
Committee charters are drafted in accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA), as amended, 5 U.S.C. App. 2, sets forth policies for the operation of the advisory committee. Committee charters are available online on the FACA Database.
