Council on Credit and Finance

The Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act established a new Council on Credit and Finance, chaired by the Deputy Secretary. The Council is charged with the review of Bureau program applications, making recommendations to the Secretary regarding projects seeking assistance from those programs, and reviewing approved projects on a regular basis. The Council on Credit and Finance builds on the Credit Council that DOT had previously established through administrative measures. The Council on Credit and Finance generally holds meetings on monthly, on the third Wednesday.

The Council on Credit and Finance includes the following members:

  • Deputy Secretary (Chair)
  • Chief Financial Officer & Assistant Secretary for Budget and Programs (Vice Chair)
  • Under Secretary of Transportation for Policy
  • General Counsel
  • Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy
  • Federal Highway Administrator
  • Federal Transit Administrator
  • Federal Railroad Administrator
  • Executive Director of the Build America Bureau (non-voting)

Additionally, the Secretary may designate up to three additional officials of DOT to serve as at-large members of the Council on Credit and Finance.

The 2024 meeting dates are scheduled for the third Wednesday of every month unless otherwise noted.
