Overview

Employers subject to DOT or USCG drug and alcohol testing regulations must submit annual drug and alcohol testing data as required by their respective DOT Agency or the USCG. The annual drug and alcohol testing data being submitted for a specific calendar year is to be submitted by March 15th of the following calendar year.

When submitting drug and alcohol testing data, employers are to use the following Drug and Alcohol Testing MIS Data Collection Form and instructions.

FAA, FMCSA, FRA, and FTA  now permit (and prefer) employers to submit the required drug and alcohol testing data via the internet. PHMSA requires that you submit the required data electronically.

If you submit the data via the internet, you are not required to submit a hardcopy.  You may need to keep a hard copy.  Check the modal recordkeeping requirements at https://www.transportation.gov/odapc/drug-and-alcohol-record-keeping-requirements
