MIS Reporting & Login.Gov
For Users Who Receive a LETTER
Setting up a Login.gov account for when you are signing into the
Department of Transportation’s DAMIS system for the first time.
STEP 1
- As a DOT-regulated employer required to submit your annual drug and alcohol testing data, you would have received either an email or letter from the DOT Agency that regulates you (e.g, FTA, FRA, FMCSA, PHMSA, FAA).
- That email or letter will contain a 32-digit ‘one-time’ code that you will use to ‘register’ your email address with your company in DAMIS and Login.gov.
- If you received a letter, got to https://DAMIS.dot.gov and click on ‘Register’
STEP 2
- Enter the 32-digit ‘one-time’ code
- After entering the code, click ‘Submit’,
- You will be re-directed to the https://Login.gov screen.
STEP 3
- Click on “Create an account” and enter your email address.
STEP 4
- Once an account is created you will see the following screen directing you to check your email for the confirmation code. This email will be from Login.gov.
- Go to your email ‘inbox’ and look for the email from Login.gov
- In that email, click on the link provided so you can continue creating your Login.gov account
STEP 5
- Once the email is confirmed you will be asked to create a password for Login.gov.
NOTE:
If you forget your Login.gov password, you will need to reset your password with Login.gov. DO NOT call DOT to re-set your Login.gov password.
STEP 6
- Select an authentication method. Follow prompts depending on the method chosen.
- **If you choose “Backup Codes” as your validation method, be aware that once this list of 10 codes has been exhausted you will no longer have access to your Login.gov account, it will need to be deactivated and reactivated by Login.gov and you will need to re-register your account with DAMIS. You may request an additional list of “Backup Codes” from Login.gov before you use the last code.
- You may choose to add an additional authentication method. If so, follow the prompts to complete that process.
- When you are done with choosing your ‘authentication methods’, click ‘agree and confirm”.
- You will be re-directed back to the DAMIS website directly to your company reporting page.
