The rural two-lane network in Oklahoma accounted for approximately 65 percent of all serious and fatal crashes in the State, primarily due to the lack of shoulders. The program’s improvements target the addition of 8ft shoulders/widening, the rehabilitation/resurfacing of existing driving lanes along with associated drainage and grading work, across Oklahoma’s rural road network.
