July 31, 2020: Announcement of Grant Recipients
67 UTC Tier 1 Grant Competition Applications Received:The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) received a total of 67 applications in response to the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) that closed on Friday, May 29. DOT expects to select 4 grants. The number of applications received for each of the four competed research topic areas are:
- >Highly Automated Transportation Systems -- 12
- >Communications Technology and E-Commerce Effects on Travel Demand -- 17
- Implications of Accessible Automated Vehicles and Mobility Services for People with Disabilities -- 21
- Strategic Implications of Changing Public Transportation Travel Trends -- 17
DOT anticipates announcing grant selections in late summer 2020.
May 7, 2020: NOFO UPDATE. Because of stay-at-home orders currently in place through the United States due to the coronavirus pandemic, OST-R hereby WAIVES the requirement stated in the Notice of Funding Opportunity for two hard copies of the application that were to be submitted by June 2, 2020. All other submission requirements remain in place.

March 30, 2020: A Notice of Funding Opportunity for New Tier 1 UTCs opened today. Applicants must be U.S. non-profit institutions of higher education and must apply by May 29, 2020, through https://www.grants.gov at Opportunity No. UTCTIER1COMP2020 or by searching for CFDA No. 20.701.
