Disability Training Materials and Helpful Information

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of Aviation Enforcement and Proceedings (AEP) and Office of Transportation Policy have developed informative modular programs that can be used to assist individuals with disabilities and to supplement the training and education of airline employees and contractors. The programs focus on the rights and responsibilities of individuals and airlines under the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA) and its implementing regulation, 14 CFR Part 382 and were produced in cooperation with stakeholders from both the disability community and airline industry. Although many of the programs have an intended audience, we believe that all of the content is helpful for any passenger, airline employee, or contractor.

Brochure	Tri-fold pamphlet	The traveling public may choose to print this material as a reference before traveling.
Digital Content	Content that is easily viewable from a smart phone, PC, or tablet	Both airline personnel and members of the traveling public are encouraged to use this material as a quick reference guide on a mobile or other device.
Tip  Sheet	Pocket-sized accordion folded pamphlet	We encourage airlines to print these tip sheets and provide them to guide and wheelchair assistants to carry and reference while they assist individuals with disabilities.
Video	Multimedia animation presentation with narration and closed captioning	We encourage airlines to provide these videos to employees as a part of their personnel training programs. This information is intended to supplement (but not replace) airline training programs.
