Termination of Informal Review of the American/JetBlue Northeast Alliance
On July 22, 2020, American Airlines, Inc. and JetBlue Airways Corporation submitted alliance agreements to Department under 49 U.S.C. § 41720. The waiting period, as extended by the Department in this notice, expired on November 19, 2020. On January 10, 2021, the Department entered into an agreement with American and JetBlue terminating its review of the alliance agreements and receiving commitments to address competition issues. The commitments include slot divestitures at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). DOT retains the ability to exercise its statutory and regulatory authorities, including enforcement action, should circumstances so warrant.
