SMART Stage 2

On December 16, 2024, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced $85M for the first round of Stage 2 Implementation Grants for eight projects, implemented across ten states. For more details on the projects, see below and the SMART Stage 2 Project List.

These projects represent six of the eight technology areas identified in BIL: Connected Vehicles, Sensor-based Infrastructure, Systems Integration, Innovative Aviation, Smart Grid, and Smart Technology Traffic Signals.

USDOT received a total of 28 applications to the FY24 Stage 2 Notice of Funding Opportunity. The average amount of funding requested was $10,481,634.
