NHTSA has supported a number of efforts to support communities in implementing the most effective impaired driving countermeasures. For example, each year, NHTSA facilitates between two and seven comprehensive State Impaired Driving Program Assessments. These Assessments bring together a team of leading experts to review the current status of a State’s impaired driving program highlighting strengths, opportunities and recommendations to strengthen the program.
NHTSA is an operating mode of the United States Department of Transportation (DOT). Its mission is to save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce traffic-related health care and other economic costs. The Office of Safety Programs, Safety Countermeasures Division (NPD-210) advances a vision for safe people-centered transportation: bicyclists, pedestrians, motorcyclists, school bus riders, older road users and micro-mobility users by leading life-saving research to identify best practices, programs, and policies that, when implemented, can improve safety and reduce injuries.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is responsible for reducing the personal injury and property losses resulting from motor vehicle crashes. NHTSA relies on data to measure the characteristics and needs of the highway safety environment. Data is essential to reducing the human and economic cost of motor vehicle crashes.
The objective of this project is to develop a minimum of three data-driven interventions/countermeasures and implement/pilot test the new interventions through a demonstration project. This project will include a literature review on generational learning styles, specifically related to traffic safety, using that report to identify gaps in behavioral pedestrian safety countermeasures and develop a forward thinking, 5-year plan for addressing pedestrian fatalities and severe injuries to keep up with generational groups.
This project is focused on safety of lithium-ion batteries for battery electric vehicles (BEV). Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries used in BEVs must meet a wide variety range of safety standards, including operation extreme conditions, including crash and flooding incidents. These unpredictable and non-standard abuse conditions can result in a thermal runaway condition of the Li-ion battery pack. Performer has significant expertise in experimental and modeling

MARAD intends to award a contract for the procurement of services to deliver 10 Roll-on/Roll-off (RO/RO) ships to recapitalize the National Defense Reserve Fleet, in accordance with Congressional direction. The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23), directs MARAD to acquire 10 new Roll-on/Roll-off (RORO) vessels to recapitalize the National Defense Reserve Fleet (NDRF). Section 3546, a (2) states,
Provide non-personal on-site administrative support services for the WFLHD facility in support of organizational requirement (specifically excludes Information Technology (IT) and IT support services).
The objective of this project is to identify evidence-based intervention strategies targeted toward the prevention of crashes pedestrians, develop an evidence-based implementation step-by-step guide for community-based organizations focused on pedestrian safety programming found in NHTSA's Countermeasures That Work and other evidence-based safety countermeasures
