PolicStatement on Employment and Advancement of Persons witDisabilities

The U.SDepartment oTransportation's (DOT) goaito enhancaccess to employment of peoplwith disabilities by ensuring equal employment opportunity. I encourage effective outreachrecruitmentselection and advancement of qualified people with disabilities. acommitteto makinDOT a modeemployeof persons with disabilitiesespecially those with severe disabilities referred to as "targeted disabilities."

ThDepartment will comply witSectio50of thRehabilitatioAcof 1973as amendedwhicprohibits Federaagencies frodiscriminating against qualified individuals with disabilities. ThDepartment will providhiringplacementand advancement opportunities for persons with disabilities. Violations of thilaw will result in appropriatdisciplinary actions against the offenders, up to and including dismissal.

The Department will continutidentify and remove anbarriers to hiringretainingand promotinpersons with disabilities. In accordancwith Executive Order 13548 and threspective DOT Plan tIncrease Employment of Peoplwith Disabilitiesall departmentaorganizations will work with their offices of human resources in outreacefforts to providinternshipemploymentand advancement opportunitieto persons witdisabilitiesespeciallthose with targetedisabilities.
