Region 8 Competition
University Transportation Centers (UTC) Region 8 Award: (12/13/23)
On 12/1/2023, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg selected the North Dakota State University to receive the BIL-funded Region 8 grant. The Center for Transformative Infrastructure Preservation and Sustainability will focus on “Preserving the Existing Transportation System”, along with consortia members Colorado State, Denver University, Fort Lewis College, Colorado University – Denver, South Dakota State University, United Tribes Technical College, Utah State University, the University of North Dakota, University of Utah and University of Wyoming.

UPDATE: Letters of Intent Received for Region 8 UTC Program Grant (7/10/23)
As of the requested submission date of July 5 for Letters of Intent for the Region 8 Re-opened Competition:
- Three letters of intent were received (1 is to be selected)
Late submission of a Letter of Intent from a non-profit institution of higher education will be accepted if it is received before the August 15, 2023 application deadline.

3/14/2023 RE-OPENING OF REGION 8 COMPETITION: The Region 8 UTC grant (for a Regional UTC located in Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming) was not awarded in this competition. As a result, the competition will be re-opened later this Spring or Summer to receive applications for only that one UTC grant. You can subscribe with https://www.grants.gov/ to be notified when the next University Transportation Centers Program (Assistance Listing 20.701) Notice of Funding Opportunity is available, or watch this webpage for updates. The Notice of Funding Opportunity for the recently concluded competition, through which the Region 8 UTC slot was not filled, is posted here https://www.transportation.gov/utc/utc-nofo-2022, and that document will be the basis for the one that will be used for the re-opened competition for the Region 8 UTC.
