Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO)
General Grant Program Information
The Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) grant helps to expand pathways for women to enter and lead in all industries.
The purpose of this program is to provide technical assistance (TA) to employers (which may include public-sector entities) and labor unions in the United States and its territories to encourage employment of women in Registered Apprenticeship and nontraditional occupations (A/NTO).

Eligible Activities
These grants provide technical assistance to employers and labor unions aimed at increasing women workers’ participation in apprenticeship programs and occupations where they are underrepresented. Developing pre-apprenticeship programs is an allowable activity under these grants.
Funding Information
In FY 2024, $6 million was available for the Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) program. Individual awards range from $350,000 to $750,000.
