Eligibility Information

Eligible expenditures include staffing and equipment (including vehicles), among others. 

Eligible applicants include public, private, and nonprofit veteran service organizations (including those owned and/or operated by Tribes) and state veterans service agencies (state governments) to provide transportation services in eligible rural counties at no charge to veterans. To meet the VA definition of “highly rural,” eligible counties must have fewer than seven people per square mile. Access a list of current county grantees.
 

Funding Information

The HRTG program is expected to provide $3 million in grants annually. There is not a matching requirement; federal cost-share is 100 percent.
