Description

This project will build off of the Roadway Digital Infrastructure (RDI) models, principles, and strategies developed in the FY23 FHWA project that produced an RDI Strategy.  This project will serve as a mechanism and resource for collaboration and appropriate linking of RDI activities at ITS-JPO and throughout FHWA and USDOT, potentially to include multimodal interoperable connectivity (CDA, advanced air mobility, NICT/V2X Deployment Plan), digital maps, AMS, the Mobility Data Program, electric vehicle charging data networks, and mileage-based user fees.  That collaboration and linking supported by this project will specifically advance the following 7 “on-ramp” initial activities from the RDI Strategy:  Architecture Principles; Collaborative Research Agenda; Institutional, Workforce, and Policy “Footings;” Advancing BIM/Enterprise Data Systems at DOTs; Advancing Next-Generation National Network Roadway Data Exchange and Platforms (including digital maps); National Interoperable Connectivity for Transportation; Prototype Transcontinental Corridors; and Enlist stakeholders to identify and discuss digital infrastructure framework elements from policy, institutional, and technical perspectives.  This project will include considerable stakeholder engagement.  It will also include envisioning and develop initial prototype concepts and undertaking initial assessments.  It will also include updating roadmaps, program plans, and work plans for relevant existing and potentially new areas of activity to integrate RDI elements.
