Description

National Network for the Transportation Workforce (NNTW) launched and previously funded by the FHWA Office of Innovative Program Delivery’s (OIPD) Center for Transportation Workforce Development (CTWD). The purpose of the network is to collectively provide strategic and efficient approaches to transportation workforce development. Since 2015, representatives from the NNTW institutions have attended the ITS PCB Program’s annual ITS academic workshops (organized by the Volpe Center) and provided valuable contributions. Deliverables from the NNTW should include strengthening the PCB’s program’s partnership with academia in the realm of ITS, providing links to public agencies and private firms that employ students educated by these same institutions, and facilitating academic stakeholders in discussion identifying academic needs related to the ITS field, and engaging academic stakeholders for feedback on the development of ITS related classroom materials.

The ITS PCB Program is currently engaging Academic Stakeholders in a cohort to better understand their needs in Fall 2023. The outcome of that cohort is expected to lead to a comprehensive program identifying products that the ITS PCB Program will collaborate with Academia to co-create.
