Sequence Number 2024-109
Description

Conduct collaborative, distributed co-simulation tests of different models and algorithms developed by DOT, DOE, and select industry and/or academic partners to advance systems integration of automated and connected elements, including SAE Levels 1/2 ADAS systems with connected applications. The ecosystem consists of diverse actors with differing objectives, assumptions, and algorithms, not to mention different tools. Virtualized testing can help us safely deploy technologies and ensure they remain safe and effective when operating in the real world alongside other systems that may be either automated or human-operated. This project will enable parties with diverse toolsets to join distributed test events to execute 2 CDA applications. One application will be safety-focused, while the other improves roadway efficiency. Both will glean insights about gaps in co-simulation mapping and scenario definition standards. Interested industry partners include Humanetics, Toyota, and Applied Intuition. Planned 2023 collaborative partners include Econolite, TTS, Nissan, Volkswagen, Mcity, UCLA, Argonne National Lab, and Oak Ridge National Lab.
