| Description | This project will develop a new standard for minimum, onboard unit (OBU) vehicle-to-everything devices that participate in the interoperable, connected transportation environments. This standard is needed as testing and experiences with early deployments using currently available devices has shown a greater level of variation in the functionality and performance of these devices—variation that is inconsistent with use of these devices for critical-life-safety applications. To better inform current and future OBU manufacturers, this project will document needs and gaps, translate into requirements, and develop an industry consensus standard. |
