The project is located in the White Horse Hill National Game Preserve (formerly Sully’s Hill NGP) in central North Dakota approximately 100 miles west of Grand Forks, ND. The preserve sits along the south shore of Devils Lake, North Dakota’s largest natural lake. The 2.4-miles of asphalt paved Auto Tour Routes (Rte’s 010AZ, 010BZ, and 101) are crumbling along the edges of the roadway and developing cracks in many locations that span the entire width of the road. The overlook loop portion of the route has been previously chip sealed. The project consists of crack sealing, patching, and chip sealing Routes 010AZ and 010BZ. Route 101 consists of removing the existing asphalt pavement and replacing with 6-inches roadway aggregate. Route 101 will receive a double chip seal after the aggregate is placed.
