Description

The FHWA Office of Infrastructure Research and Development Bridge Engineering Research Team programs provide a variety of solutions that will support the strategic objectives of the FHWA and the needs of bridge engineering areas including Steel Bridges, Concrete Bridges, Structural Materials, Geotechnical Structures, and Hydraulics. These program areas support advancement of state-of-the-art technologies and the deployment of such technologies to maintain or improve the safety and durability of the Nation’s bridges and highway structures. While working toward this goal, the programs constantly face development challenges that do not have clear a clear solution but may be resolved through collaboration with private and public sector and a multi-partner innovative approach.
The exact nature of needed collaboration with private and public sector and a multi-partner innovative approach lend itself to a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA). This BAA is designed to solicit project concepts and plans in response to basic and applied research topics described in Appendix C of the BAA document. As described in BAA Section 2.8, a two-phase approach will be used for project evaluations.
