Brittany Young

Brittany Young is a Small Business Specialist and Woman Owned Small Business advocate at the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization in the Procurement Assistance Division.  In this capacity, she serves to help small business owners to market their products and services and increase the participation of small businesses in DOT procurement opportunities.

Prior to joining DOT, Ms. Young served as a Business Opportunity Specialist for the 8(a) program at U.S. Small Business Administration where she was responsible for her own portfolio of 8(a) firms as well as the assistance with the firm’s Annual Reviews, Mentor Protégé agreements, Joint Venture agreements, Offer letters, and Business Development. Previously she served as a Business Development Specialist at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency. There she led the development of a National Training Conference for their Business Centers and she helped to implement one of the agency’s social media platforms. She also worked with a number of Business Centers to ensure that their performance standards goals were always met in the areas of access to capital, access to contracts, access to emerging domestic and international markets, and global supply chain. Prior to her federal appointment, Brittany has several years of experience working in Intellectual Property Law, as well as Criminal Law.

Ms. Young holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Morgan State University, and she obtained her Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College.
