Ryan McCormack
Ryan McCormack is the Under Secretary for Policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation. As the Department’s third-ranking official, he advises the Secretary and Deputy Secretary on national transportation policy and oversees multimodal policy development across surface transportation, aviation, maritime, commercial space, and emerging technologies, as well as cross-cutting priorities including safety, infrastructure investment and economic competitiveness.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. McCormack served as the Department’s Deputy Chief of Staff, where he helped advance strategic and policy priorities. He previously served as Chief of Staff at the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM), advising on agency operations, trade policy, and congressional engagement to support American jobs and strengthen U.S. economic competitiveness.
Mr. McCormack also brings significant legislative experience, having served on Capitol Hill for more than a decade, ultimately as Chief of Staff in the U.S. House of Representatives. During his time on Capitol Hill, Mr. McCormack managed legislative strategy, policy origination, and developed deep expertise in transportation and infrastructure.
Ryan holds a B.A. from Canisius University and lives in Virginia with his wife, Anna, and two children.
