Travis Thomas is the Acting Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO) for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (GLS) at the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).
In this role, Travis administers a $200M portfolio and oversees multidisciplinary teams to modernize foundational IT infrastructure while delivering accessible, sustainable, and user-friendly digital services. Previously, as FHWA’s Acting Chief Technology Officer, he advanced strategic initiatives aimed at improving digital services, strengthening IT operations, and advancing enterprise technology capabilities. Since joining DOT in 2012, he has stewarded multiple product development and technology programs, achieving a 35% reduction in data processing times and generating millions in annual cost savings.
Over the course of his 15+ year federal career, Travis has been recognized with the DOT Secretary’s and Administrator’s Awards for leadership and superior achievement.
