Peter Kontakos

Peter Kontakos currently serves as the USDOT Regional Assistance Division (RAD) Manager within the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU). In this capacity, Mr. Kontakos is responsible for leading program management and oversight initiatives of the Department’s national Small Business Transportation Resource Center (SBTRC) Program. Mr. Kontakos leads grants lifecycle management and program delivery for USDOT’s 11 regional SBTRC recipients which are strategically located and operated nationwide to provide various types of capacity building, technical assistance, and business development counseling services to small and disadvantaged businesses seeking to obtain transportation-related contracts. Mr. Kontakos is also responsible for leading the Department’s Bonding Education Program and Women & Girls in Transportation Initiative Program which are both administered through the Department’s regional SBTRCs; as well as leading assorted OSDBU strategic initiatives.

Prior to joining USDOT OSDBU, Mr. Kontakos served as the Deputy District Director of the Massachusetts District Office within the U.S. Small Business Administration. Previously, he served as a member of the Federal acquisition workforce at USDOT in the roles of Contracting Officer, Procurement Analyst, Small Business Specialist, and Acquisition Program Manager supporting various Departmental operating administrations; and holds a Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting. In these varied roles, Mr. Kontakos collaborated and partnered with Federal agency, private industry, and non-profit stakeholders cultivating impactful relationships to effectively promote small business program advocacy and education to a wide range of national, regional, and local audiences; and served as a key advisor leading various Federal procurement policy initiatives inclusive of small business programs. 

Mr. Kontakos received his Bachelor’s Degree from Merrimack College with a dual major in Business Administration and Political Science; and obtained his Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst Isenberg School of Management. Mr. Kontakos is also a graduate of the Partnership for Public Service - Excellence in Government Fellows Program.
