Traffic Records Coordinating Committee Data System and Attribute Icons

The critical focus of traffic safety data improvement efforts can generally be found at the intersection of the six key data systems (crash, driver, vehicle, roadway, citation and adjudication, and injury surveillance) and the six primary performance attributes (timeliness, completeness, accuracy, uniformity, integration, and accessibility). NHTSA has developed a suite of icons for both the data systems and the performance attributes, and their use is encouraged by all traffic safety professionals in hope that they will help foster a clearer, more uniform basis upon which to undertake discussion of traffic safety data issues.
