Woman-Owned Small Business Certification Program Updates

The United States Department of Transportation's (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) invites you to participate at the Department's Woman-Owned Small Business Certification Program Updates Webinar to be held on Wednesday, December 16th. The webinar will start promptly at 2:00 pm, EST.

The Office of Women’s Business Ownership at the U.S. Small Business Administration was established in response to an executive order in 1979. This program has helped to foster the participation of women entrepreneurs in the economy, especially those who have been historically under-served or excluded. There are also Women’s business centers across the US that help firms with business development needs to assist.

The SBA establishes the government-wide and agency socio-economic category goals at their statutory levels. The WOSB statutory goal is 5% of the contracting dollars and DOT has been able to meet this goal every year. This event will target firms seeking to gain their WOSB status and provide them information regarding the most recent WOSB certification process changes and updates from SBA. DOT will also provide information on how to do business with the Department.

OSDBU mission is to ensure that small business concerns have the maximum practicable opportunity to participate in DOT procurement opportunities as prime contractors and subcontractors. For the last ten years, the Department has received, at a minimum, an “A” rating in SBA Scorecard for its small business achievements and has exceeded its WOSB goals continually. As a continuing effort to promote procurement opportunities within DOT, we are hosting a webinar to provide information on the program and how we can assist women-owned small businesses, especially during these times.

Topics to be covered:

  • Overview of DOT OSDBU
  • DOT Small Business programs and resources
  • SBA Women’s Business Ownership Info & Program Updates

Registration closes by December 9th or once full capacity has been reached.
