Description

This project would entail software integration of the HDS and CARMA platform, so that the HDS would be capable of testing ADS (Automated Driving Systems), Cooperative ADS, and Cooperative Driving Automation (CDA), and manual vehicles, as well as the interaction of AVs with Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs). This would allow researchers to use ADS/CDA/AV behaviors defined in CARMA in human factors studies in the HDS. This would also create the CARMA Simulation capability which would enable a more robust simulation testing environment (e.g., Hardware in the Loop, traffic simulation, and participant testing) for CDA and ADS, and better sharing and use of data between the CARMA Platform, CARMA Cloud, and V2X Hub. The project would include software design and development, and software implementation and testing to support ADS and Cooperative Automation strategies. This project will build on the Cooperative Driving Automation (CDA)/Highway Driving Simulator (HDS) Architecture task (Task Order No. 693JJ322F00192N on the 693JJ321D000010 STOL 3 IDIQ contract). This PIF is for the Leidos portion to the Integrate CARMA platform into the HDS (Highway Driving Simulator) - Software Architecture Implementation task, to help implement this software architecture that has been developed.  The out year funding specified on this PIF is also for Leidos. A separate PIF will be submitted for the HDS portion of this task order, and the associated out year funding.  The total amount of these two PIFs (Leidos and HDS Team), including all out year funding, is $1.5M.
