State TRCC Noteworthy Practices Guide
The DOT|TRCC has launched a research project to identify common challenges and noteworthy management practices that State traffic records coordinating committees may use to improve their efficiency and efficacy. Topics under consideration include but are not limited to:
- TRCC structure and management
- The role of Executive Committees
- Effective engagement with Federal, State, and local partners
- Building coalitions and developing political capital
- Communicating the importance of high quality data
- Grant applications and management
- Identifying and leveraging critical resources
The primary deliverable is a State Traffic Records Coordinating Committee Noteworthy Practices report highlighting proven solutions to common TRCC challenges as well as processes and activities that foster functionality and cooperation between Federal, State, and local agencies. This resource will help State TRCCs apply these good practices to improve their internal management, communicate the importance of State traffic safety data at the State and local levels, encourage involvement of transportation safety stakeholders, and publicize States’ best practices to demonstrate how improvements in State data benefit all stakeholders. The report can be accessed here.
