Meet Angela Young
A Student Success Story
Angela Nicole Young has been with the Department a little over a year. Beginning her journey March 2010, she had no idea of what to expect from the U.S. Department of Transportation. Having served at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency throughout her undergraduate college career, she was prepared to step in and step up to all the Federal Government has to offer.
Young received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and New Media, and it was this degree that helped shape her experiences at DOT. Young has spent the past year and a half developing content for DOT's intranet site, DOTNet. Assisting with everything from layout design to story ideas, Angela loves the feeling of publishing content and catching people's attention. She has written dozens upon dozens of stories, shot hundreds of photographs, and assisted in the creation of some notable DOT Connection interviews with DOT administrators and officials.
"This has been an unexpected, challenging and fun opportunity," said Young. "I have enjoyed every moment of it, and look forward to where these skills take me in my career". Young will depart DOT at the end of the summer (2011) having completed a master's degree from George Washington University in strategic public relations.
