DOT by the Numbers

In third quarter (Q3) 2025, the average domestic air fare decreased to $370. This is a 4.7% decrease from the Q2 2025 average inflation-adjusted fare of $388. This is also a 1.6% decrease from Q3 2024. The average cost for round-trip tickets was $451 in Q3 2025. The one-way trip average was $266 in Q3 2025. ***This average is based on a 40% sample size, in accordance with the new Origin-Destination Survey of Airline Passengers (OD40) program.
