Final rule, request for comments on the information collection requirements.

The FAA amends reporting requirements for air carriers and certificated domestic and foreign repair station operators concerning failures, malfunctions, and defects of aircraft, aircraft engines, systems, and components. This action was prompted by an internal Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) review of the effectiveness of the reporting system and by air carrier industry concern over the quality of the data being reported. The objective of this final rule is to improve the reporting system to effectively collect and disseminate clear and concise safety information to the aviation industry.
