The 2026 FLOW Annual Meeting: Rethinking Freight Together

More than 140 members and guests gathered to strengthen America’s supply chain.

Shippers and ocean carriers, marine terminals and railroads, truckers and chassis providers, warehouse operators and more came together in one room for a day to discuss the challenges confronting our nation's freight network and how to keep it moving when it matters most.

The Work Continues

FLOW’s Annual Meeting has ended, but the momentum has not.  Thank you to our speakers, moderators, members, and guests for making the 2026 FLOW Annual Meeting a success. We look forward to building on these conversations in the year ahead.

The American Supply Chain Sovereignty Initiative (ASCSI) 

FLOW members recognize that—just like roads and bridges, railways and waterways—information is infrastructure. As such we must not only invest in better information to improve our supply chains but also do more to secure the data on which it relies. The message is clear: Much has been accomplished, yet significant untapped potential remains.

ASCSI offers a way forward, promising speed in exchange for securing our nation's supply chains and the data on which they rely. It also creates a new framework that will allow for the future expansion of FLOW to the movement of bulk shipments on our inland waterways by enabling new data-sharing opportunities while maintaining ironclad data protections.

In this way, roots stretch back more than twenty-five years, to a moment when security became a national priority overnight, and through years of hard lessons, including a pandemic that pushed America’s ports to the breaking point.

The American System: Internal Improvements

250 years ago, a young nation declared that it would chart its own course, and from the very beginning, America’s story has been a story of movement.

Independence was not won on courage alone. It depended on getting food to soldiers, equipment to the field, and supplies to those who needed them. Freedom, in a very real sense, had to be delivered.

Over the next two and a half centuries, America built on that foundation, step by step assembling a freight network unlike any other, one that connects farms to factories, ports to communities, and producers to markets across the country and around the world.

Today, that network is the backbone of the American economy: it powers manufacturing, carries the fruits of agriculture, strengthens energy security, and keeps the nation competitive in a world that moves faster every day.

Revealed at the 2026 FLOW Annual Meeting, this video celebrates the routes, the work, and the people who kept a nation moving against all odds, and it calls on today’s freight and supply chain leaders to usher in a Golden Age of Freight Transportation worthy of this nation still full of promise.
