The Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act – a Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU), which authorized NHTSA’s programs, expires on September 30, 2009. The Administration is developing a comprehensive approach for surface transportation reauthorization.
