The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) proposes a fiscal year (FY) 2009 budget request of $541 million, the amount authorized by the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU) of 2005. The FMCSA programs funded under SAFETEA-LU have contributed to significantly improved truck and bus safety.
