We are expected to write in plain language. To provide information to the public as well as people throughout DOT with respect to this responsibility, we have prepared this web page. It contains links to  documents with helpful information concerning plain language.

Federalism

Federal agencies are required to consult with State and local governments and consider the impacts of their rulemakings on them when rulemaking actions have federalism implications.

This section of our Web site is particularly intended to provide small entities with information to help them effectively participate in DOT's rulemaking process and implement any final rules that apply to them.

Economic Values Used in Analyses

Economic analyses are required for all proposed (including advance notices of proposed rulemaking) and final rulemaking actions, not just for major or economically significant rulemakings. The DOT uses the following values to prepare its economic analyses.
