Non-Federal Systems Web Application (Non-Fed)

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Traffic Organization (ATO) Nonfederal Systems Web Application (NonFed) operates under authorities 14 CFR Part 171, 14 CFR Part 77, 49 U.S.C. §§ 106, 40101, 44502, and 44718. The NonFed Tool is a web-based application that maintains all the pertinent data for nonfederal systems, such as data on the operational status, equipment type, system functionality, and location. Its principal purpose, however, is to facilitate the FAA’s oversight and inspection of these systems, which are maintained privately but are a part of the National Airspace System (NAS). Users interface with the application over the FAA intranet at https://serviceareaapps.faa.gov/nonfed. The FAA is publishing this Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) for NonFed in accordance with Section 208 of the E-Government Act of 2002, because the system collects Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from members of the public, specifically technicians who are not FAA employees, and some non-FAA sponsors.
