National Consumer Complaint Database (NCCDB)
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is an operating administration within the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) with the mission to reduce commercial motor vehicle-related crashes and fatalities. To further this mission, FMCSA established the National Consumer Complaint Database (NCCDB) to receive and manage filer complaints of alleged violations of commercial motor vehicle regulations. NCCDB allows FMCSA to identify problematic motor carriers to take necessary enforcement actions and promote compliance with FMCSA regulations. FMCSA is publishing this Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) in accordance with the EGovernment Act of 2002 to address the privacy risks associated with the NCCDB system and its collection and use of Personally Identifiable Information (PII). This PIA also addresses the new complaint categories available in the modernized NCCDB system.
