FMCSA Complaint Center
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is an operating administration within the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) with the mission to reduce commercial motor vehicle-related crashes and fatalities. To further this mission, FMCSA established the FMCSA Complaint Center to receive and manage filer complaints of alleged violations of commercial motor vehicle regulations. The FMCSA Complaint Center allows FMCSA to identify problematic motor carriers to take necessary enforcement actions and promote compliance with FMCSA regulations. FMCSA previously published a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) in accordance with the E-Government Act of 2002 to address the privacy risks associated with the FMCSA Complaint Center and its collection and use of Personally Identifiable Information (PII). This updated PIA documents recent changes to the system including a name change, a revised system of records notice (SORN), and expanded system functionality such as new complaint categories and a public company complaint search feature.
