DOT GrantLens is a secure, cloud-based enterprise web application used by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to manage the full lifecycle of discretionary federal grants across all Operating Administrations (OAs). The system provides end-to-end support for pre-award, award, post-award monitoring, performance reporting, and grant closeout, replacing fragmented legacy processes with a unified enterprise platform. This Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) is being conducted because the system collects and maintains Business Contact information from individuals outside of DOT to include federal personnel and representatives of State, Local, and Territorial Governments. There is also a planned implementation of a natural language Artificial Intelligence/Large Language Model (AI/LLM) search feature. The PIA addresses the privacy considerations for the use of the GrantLens system and the integrated AI/LLM search feature.
