Seating Accommodation Eligibility
The Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA) protects three categories of individuals with disabilities. If a passenger is a qualified passenger with a disability, depending on the type of disability, that passenger may qualify for a seat on the aircraft that accommodates that passenger’s disability-related need:
Individuals who have a physical or mental impairment that, on a permanent or temporary basis, substantially limits one or more major life activities

Temporary Basis:
An individual who is temporarily disabled qualifies as a passenger with a disability.
Examples include:
- Broken leg/foot
- Recent surgical procedure
- Sprained ankle
Major Life Activities:
Major life activities include, but are not limited to:
- Caring for oneself
- Performing manual tasks
- Walking
- Seeing
- Hearing
- Speaking
- Breathing
- Learning
- Working
Individuals who have a record of such impairment.

Individuals who are regarded as having such an impairment, whether they have the impairment or not.
