Novel Transportation Modes-Additional Resources/Publications
Novel Modes Workshop
On December 2–3, 2014, the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA’s) Exploratory Advanced Research (EAR) Program, with support from the John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center), convened the 2-day workshop “Novel Modes.”
The Novel Modes workshop served as an opportunity to stimulate ideas and fresh perspectives on how to improve the U.S. transportation system.
Description:
Novel Surface Transportation Modes
The Novel Surface Transportation Modes project is an initiative that provided an opportunity for individuals and businesses to make a case for surface transportation solutions that are compelling but categorically “outside of the box.” Many of these innovators failed to be heard in the past because there was simply no existing avenue for their proposals. The lessons learned will guide future initiatives like this one. The Novel Surface Transportation Modes project served as a promising step forward in the effort to find new and more effective mechanisms for exploring novel transportation solutions.
