U.S. Department of Transportation Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Action Plan
The U.S. Department of Transportation is committed to supporting equity, justice, and opportunity for the diverse Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) communities that make our country stronger and more vibrant. DOT’s Asian American, Native Hawai’ian, and Pacific Islander Action Plan outlines the work that the Department is undertaking to help these communities overcome the systemic barriers to economic opportunity and persistent disparities in access, safety, and other considerations across our transportation system. Its focus areas include: assessing AA and NHPI perceptions of public transportation, promoting Title VI awareness in AA and NHPI communities, improving federal grant competitiveness of AA and NHPI businesses, and improving DOT’s AA and NHPI workforce participation rates.
“Through our Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Action Plan, we will continue working to address anti-Asian hate on public transportation, create economic opportunity in AA and NHPI communities, and promote diversity in our own federal workforce. Our goal is to create a transportation system that truly serves everyone, and empowers every community to access the jobs, resources, and opportunities we all need to thrive.” – Secretary Pete Buttigieg
