Munich Reinsurance America, Inc (Munich Re) would be a valuable player in USDOT’s Solving for Safety Visualization Challenge as a Technical Assistance Innovation Agent. Having managed our own internal mobility campaigns, Munich Re can provide Solvers with knowledge, guidance and insight related to transportation safety. Our own Innovation Lab runs projects that vary in scope and scale but has a rapid, hypothesis-driven experimentation-based approach. The Lab also provides assistance and consulting for projects that it does not directly manage. This ranges from helping idea owners develop their concepts to enter the Lab, to providing innovation support for individuals who choose to develop their ideas within their own groups or departments.
Munich Re’s Mobility Domain (launched in 2015) is focused on establishing strategic partnerships and pilot projects that will enable Munich Re and its clients to develop risk management solutions for the new era of mobility, including such areas as vehicle telematics, shared mobility, crash avoidance systems, and autonomous driving. In April 2018, we launched our Smart Mobility program which is a systematic approach in evaluating our clients’ needs for mobility-based auto insurance solutions that includes: conducting a detailed LossDetectTM analysis of a client’s auto book of business; and reviewing a client’s insured fleet characteristics and existing safety measures.
