U.S.-China Transportation Forum Working Groups

The TF serves as the principal forum for high-level multi-modal transportation discussions involving U.S. and China government and industry experts. Through the TF, officials work to develop mutually beneficial solutions to common transportation challenges.  This annual high-level bilateral event serves as the primary mechanism from which to review progress made among the various TF Working Groups: 1) Safety and Disaster Assistance and Coordination; 2) Urban Congestion; 3) Hazardous Materials; 4) New Technologies in Transport (Rail); and 5) the Ports and Inland Waterways Initiative.

Event Information

The 6th U.S.-China Transportation Forum will be hosted by the U.S. Department of Transportation on October 28-30, 2013 in Chicago, Illinois in conjunction with two other significant U.S. and China transportation-related events: The “Yangtze-Mississippi River Forum” and the “Sino-American Logistics Conference and Exhibition.”  The U.S. delegation will be led by U.S. Deputy Secretary of Transportation, John Porcari while the Chinese delegation will be led by Vice Minister of Transport, Gao Hongfeng.  Other participants will include U.S. Government officials from USDOT, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, as well as the Departments of State and Commerce, among others. 

The confluence of these three major international transportation events presents a unique opportunity for the public and private sectors from both the U.S. and China to engage on critical transportation issues; some 150 participants are expected to attend. 

As with past TF events, we welcome private sector and non-profit participation.  Areas of particular interest from which attendees can engage include the U.S. Business Breakfast Roundtable, scheduled Working Group meetings, and the formal TF event on October 30th.  We welcome your suggestions on how to make the TF useful for industry and promoting U.S. goods and services.
