Pilot Records Database
Section 203 of the Airline Safety and Federal Aviation Administration Extension Act of 2010 (hereafter called the “Act”), Pub. L. 111-216, requires the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to create a database to provide air carriers and other operators electronic access to information maintained by the FAA concerning pilots’ training, certification and enforcement history, certain records related to pilots’ employment history and qualifications, and national driver registry records, in order for the operator to make a decision whether or not to hire an individual as a pilot.
To meet this requirement, the FAA developed the Pilot Records Database (PRD) to provide air carriers a centralized electronic repository of pilot information to access before allowing an individual to begin services as a pilot.
