DOT Relaunches Airline Consumer Website
Improved website design will make it easier for travelers to understand their rights
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced today that it is launching its redesigned airline consumer website
“This redesigned website will provide clear, useful information about passenger rights, as well as DOT’s rules, guidance and orders on key consumer issues,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao. “The launch of this new website is released now to coincide with the busy holiday traveling season, so that the traveling public will have access to the most up-to-date consumer information.”
The website is an important part of the Department’s efforts to ensure that air travelers know their rights. The redesigned website highlights content on topics of greatest concern to consumers, including:
- Bumping
- Tarmac Delays
- Flight Delays and Cancellations
- Flying with a Disability
- Passengers’ Right to Fly Free from Discrimination
- How to File a Consumer Complaint
The pages launched today are just the first step in the Department’s plan to redesign and simplify the aviation consumer information available on its website. The relaunched DOT site will allow U.S. air travelers to quickly and easily access information about their rights as passengers. Over the coming months, the Department will continue making improvements, including adding other pages of interest to aviation consumers and enhancing the search and navigation tools to improve usability.
