Technical Assistance Provider Annual Convenings

TA Provider Convenings

Annually, the TCN hosts an in-person full-day convening that features workshops, presentations, and networking opportunities. The events are designed for technical assistance providers, federal staff, and other capacity builders to gather together and share information to learn from each other and amplify their work.

Second Annual TCN TA Provider Convening: October 9, 2024

On October 9, 2024, at the Department of Transportation Headquarters in Washington, DC, over 135 technical assistance providers, capacity builders, and federal staff associated with the TCN's 12 partner agencies gathered for a full-day of peer learning. The day kicked off with leadership remarks and a game to test attendees' knowledge of the TCN partner programs. The first session of the day engaged participants in an interactive discussion where they took on case studies of technical assistance challenges and recommended solutions. Before lunch, attendees learned about housing issues, and broke out into smaller group discussions to ask questions to experts in the housing sector. Later in the day, a panel discussion on braiding and leveraging funds featured speakers from the Federal Transit Administration, as well as from on-the-ground fund braiding examples in New Hampshire and Washington state. The day closed with an update on the Shoalwater Bay Tribe, and the success technical assistance resources have offered the Tribe as they continue their efforts to relocate away from land that is eroding into the ocean.

First Annual TCN TA Provider Convening: November 29, 2023

In 2023, the TCN hosted its first annual TA Provider Convening at HUD Headquarters on November 29, 2023. A full day of activities helped develop relationships and recognition across technical assistance providers. Discussions across the day also surfaced needs and ideas about how to support a community of practice and lower barriers to collaboration and coordination. The day opened with leadership remarks and icebreakers, and proceeded to a technical assistance coordination workshop where participants discussed case studies and how coordination would be beneficial. After a working lunch where attendees brainstormed on how a TA provider community of practice would be helpful, participants read through a series of vignettes as a way of focusing a discussion on best practices in providing TA to underserved communities.
