2024 SMART Summit Report
This report summarizes the 2024 SMART Summit events, including key takeaways from each panel, presentation, and breakout session. It was prepared by SMART Program staff.

SMART Awarded Projects
Across Fiscal Years 2022, 2023, and 2024, the SMART Grants program awarded 127 Stage 1 Planning and Prototyping Grants. These grants span 45 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, and totaled over $200M.
The first round of Stage 2 Implementation Grants have been awarded, to eight recipients with projects across ten states. These awards totaled $85M. Additional rounds of Stage 2 Implementation Grants will be announced in 2025 and 2026, and recipients of Stage 1 SMART Grants will be eligible to apply for Stage 2. To date, SMART has announced $289,088,416 of the $296,000,000 allotted for fiscal years 2022-2024.
All SMART projects are multi-disciplinary and leverage multiple of the technology areas defined in IIJA areas to address specific challenges. The 127 Stage 1 awards cover nine cross-cutting project areas:
