The Secure Credential Management System (SCMS) Interoperability project will work with each of the United States SCMS Vendors to conduct testing that demonstrates interoperability between each of the SCMS Vendors certificates. In response to lessons learned from the single root certificate authority system originally created to support the CV Pilot projects, IEEE 1609.2.1 was developed with mechanisms that allow multiple SCMS vendor's root certificate authorities to be trusted within the system which enables interoperability between the different vendor's certificates.
